Latin Quarter walk-up, two rooms
Before
A bulky corner sofa blocked the chimney breast and forced a diagonal path from door to window. Curtains hung across the sash glass, cutting daylight in half by mid-afternoon.
Open shelving on every wall held mismatched ceramics that visually narrowed an already tight plan.
After
A two-seat sofa sits parallel to the breast with a slim console behind for lamps. Curtains stack beside the frame; a single bookcase replaces four shallow shelves.
Floor area feels wider because circulation now runs straight from threshold to sill.
Soft-furnishings and seating spend for this flat: €2,650 excluding building works.
Salthill seafront studio
Before
Untreated linen curtains had bleached to uneven stripes within one summer. A glass coffee table glared under west light and showed every grain of Promenade sand.
The sleeping alcove used a tall headboard that collided with the sloping ceiling.
After
Fade-resistant weave curtains and a low timber table calm the glare. A shorter upholstered headboard clears the pitch and leaves room for wall lamps on dimmers.
A washable runner at the balcony door catches sand before it reaches the main rug.
Textile and small furniture package: €1,890.
Claddagh cottage conversion
Before
A dining table for eight filled the former kitchen hearth zone, leaving no path to the rear door. Painted vinyl on stone walls trapped moisture marks along the skirting.
Storage spilled into cardboard boxes under the attic stair.
After
A four-seat table aligns with the beam line; benches tuck fully under when not in use. Breathable mineral paint replaced the vinyl finish on exterior walls.
Custom drawers under the stair now hold linens and outdoor gear without visual clutter.
Joinery and finishes guidance fee layered onto furniture: €980 studio time plus client-purchased materials.
Georgian parlour near Eyre Square
Before
Bright white walls and a low modern sectional made the tall volume feel unfinished. A television dominated the chimney breast and bounced evening street light from outside.
Heavy velvet curtains pooled on the floor and trapped dust in the folds.
After
A soft grey-green field colour and taller bookcases restore vertical balance. Media sits in a low cabinet to the side of the breast so the plaster remains the room's centre.
Lined curtains clear the boards by two centimetres and hang from poles matched to the original architrave height.
Full parlour styling package: €4,200 including curtains and seating.
What these notes leave out
We do not publish client names or exact street numbers. Each note focuses on the spatial problem and the styling move that solved it, so future Galway clients can recognise their own building type.
More detailed drawing sets stay private between studio and client after the commission ends.
